Biography

Dr. Tylon Crook, a national board-certified counselor is also a licensed school counselor in three states (MS, GA, OH). He earned his master’s degree in mental health/school counseling from Mississippi State University and his doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Auburn University. Dr. Crook’s research agenda is focused in the areas of multiculturalism, equity, and social justice. Specific topics of focus include social justice advocacy in PreK-12 settings, anti-racist school counseling, implicit bias reduction training, and mental health issues and spirituality within the African American community. In addition, Dr. Crook travels the country providing professional development in a variety of areas that include diversity and inclusion training, implicit bias training, and school counseling program development. He can also be found engaged in motivational speaking within schools and communities across the country. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Crook is also a member of numerous organizations, most notably Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) and the American School Counselor Association. As a lifelong learner and fierce proponent of education, equity, and justice, Dr. Crook lives by his fraternity’s motto of “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.”
