Biography

Dr. McLain began her career as a residential treatment counselor working with adolescents who were referred by Department of Youth Corrections and Social Services. She also worked as an Intensive Outpatient Counselor. She transitioned to teaching and supervising specializing in student development and support. She went on to work in higher academic administration creating programs, courses and leading faculty. Currently Dr. McLain focuses on community and school education, support and mentoring while supervising counselors in her community and through the university. She is involved in student advising, instruction and her current areas of research interest include trauma, resiliency, military counseling, professional development, remediation and counselor dispositions.
