Biography
Dr. Logan McCarthy is a counselor educator and supervisor and licensed clinical professional counselor specializing in rural telemental health, ethical practice, and digital mental health. He serves as Core Faculty and Associate Professor in the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University, where he teaches in both their online CMHC and PhD CES programs. Dr. McCarthy is the Co-Past President and current Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Maine Mental Health Counselors Association and is actively involved in leadership and advocacy for the counseling profession at the state and national level.
His scholarly work focuses on rural telemental health counseling, counselor wellness, technology and mental health, ethical telehealth practice, counselor education and supervision and artificial intelligence, and the therapeutic implications of digital behavior. He is a co-editor and co-author of the book Rural Telemental Health Counseling: Effective, Ethical, and Culturally Competent Approaches in the 21st Century (Kendall Hunt). Dr. McCarthy presents regularly at state, regional and national conferences. He is passionate about improving access to mental health care in rural and underserved communities. He is also part of numerous state, regional, and national professional counseling organizations.
