Biography
Dr. Davila began her career working for a non-profit agency providing counseling services to victims of domestic violence and victims of crime. She has been a counselor for 19 years serving the Latino community in North Texas. In addition to being a professor, she is in private practice serving Spanish-speaking clients for 16 years. Dr. Davila serves as a volunteer collaborator for the Spanish division of NBC Universal Telemundo, educating the Latino community about mental health issues, crisis, suicide prevention, trauma, and other counseling topics. She is a Radio Co-Host for Radio Manantial in Yuma, Arizona educating the community on issues of mental health, marriage, and family.
Additionally, she is the author of three books in Spanish targeting the Latino Population on the topics of Preventing Crisis in the Family, Single Adulthood, and How to Manage Women’s Emotions. She also collaborates with several Baptist Conventions across the United States speaking on issues of mental health, Christian Counseling, Women`s issues, and family. Her passion is to help families and churches achieve emotional, spiritual, and mental health. Currently, her research interests include grief, Latino population issues, multicultural counseling and supervision, domestic violence, and self-care.
