Biography
Jody Vernam started working as a helping professional in 2001 and has practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2006. She has counseled individuals and families in home, school, community, private practice, and college settings. Her early career focused on behavioral analysis and family systems with a specialty in children and adolescents. Dr. Vernam follows a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework, while integrating systemic, solution-focused, and emotion-focused interventions. Dr. Vernam integrates developmental, discrimination, and task-oriented supervision models when supervising counselors for licensure. Dr. Vernam is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, Rho Eta Nu Alpha Rho. Her research interests include best teaching practices in counselor education, mental health experiences in rural populations, countertransference in the counseling process, and best research practices to study pedagogy.
