Biography
Dr. Michael Trexler is a counselor educator, supervisor, and clinician located in Indianapolis, Indiana. With seventeen years of experience working in the mental health field, mostly in university and private practice settings, his clinical orientation is one that focuses on the interplay of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how these impact the distress a person experiences. He utilizes a number of therapies in this clinical work, including emotion-focused therapy (for individuals), cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, the Gottman Method, schema therapy, mindfulness and somatic-based approaches, and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Dr. Trexler serves as the Director of Clinical Training for the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies. His research interests include clinical supervision, anxiety and trauma, group counseling, and creativity in counseling.
