Biography

Dr. Lucas began her career as a counselor in group homes working with youth who had been removed from their families.  These youth had diagnoses of Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder as well as other diagnoses such as depression and anxiety.  Following this experience, Dr. Lucas began working in a state funded addictions agency where she provided treatment to court mandated clients both in the local jail and in an outpatient setting.  In addition, she began providing sex offender treatment in both outpatient and prison settings.  Dr. Lucas then transitioned to private practice and worked mostly with individuals with mental health diagnoses, addiction, and continued providing outpatient sex offender treatment.  Currently, Dr. Lucas is focusing on providing instruction in counseling and pursuing research interests in improving online instruction and student outcomes.
