Is an online MBA degree respected?
Like many students, you may wonder whether an online business administration master’s degree offers the same rigor and credibility as a residential degree. As long as you select a university and/or program that is accredited, you can be confident that your Master of Business Administration online degree will hold weight as an advanced educational credential.
Liberty University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Can I become a professor with an MBA?
Maybe you, like many students, are interested in teaching at the collegiate level and wondering if an MBA online degree can help you get there. Job requirements will vary depending on the exact position and school you’re applying to, but in general, online MBA programs can help you pursue teaching positions at colleges and universities.
It’s important to note that the MBA was previously considered a terminal degree among business professionals. However, over the past few years, the development of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) has allowed people to go further and pursue business administration training at the doctoral level. As a result, some schools require a DBA in order to become a professor – but there are still many teaching opportunities afforded to candidates with a master’s degree!
As an MBA graduate, you could go on to teach at a 2-year institution, such as a community college or junior college. Some 4-year universities also allow MBA graduates to teach, including as part-time or adjunct professors. If you have practical business experience in addition to an MBA, this could help you stand out to employers and secure a teaching position, even at schools that typically prefer applicants with a doctoral degree.
Ultimately, the types of teaching roles available to MBA graduates will come down to the individual institution. Each school has unique application requirements for job candidates – so be sure to research the necessary qualifications for the school you want to teach at!
Does earning an MBA lead to an increased salary?
It can! Your salary will ultimately depend on a number of factors, such as where you live and how much experience you have – however, completing a master’s in business administration is a valuable step that could help open you up to higher earning potential!
How long does it take to get an MBA?
Our carefully crafted MBA degree plans are designed to help you maximize your time while earning your degree. The exact amount of time you spend on your MBA degree will ultimately depend on a number of factors – including your number of transfer credits, your success in each course, and the number of classes you take each semester. If you are looking to complete an MBA in a shorter amount of time, the 36-credit-hour track might be the right fit!
Do I need work experience to enroll in Liberty’s MBA program?
Real-world experience is an essential asset that can help you move upward in your field and pursue positions of added responsibility. However, we recognize that there are many people who want to earn an MBA but don’t yet have professional experience – making it difficult for them to find MBA programs that will allow them to enroll.
If you’re in a similar situation, we have just what you need! At Liberty, you won’t need to complete a certain amount of work experience to enroll in our MBA program. That way, whether you’re a seasoned professional or an applicant with little to no experience, our online MBA degree can meet you where you are and help you gain the skills you need for your career.
Please note: While work experience is not required for admission, Liberty’s MBA does have specific educational requirements and course prerequisites that must be met. Please visit our admission requirements page for more information.
