Liberty Is Proud to Offer Police, EMS, and Other First Responders a Generous Tuition Discount
Liberty University is committed to providing world-class education and helping students achieve their educational goals. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and other first responders can receive a discount on tuition as our appreciation for the significant contributions they make to their communities.
As Liberty University’s way of saying ‘Thank You,’ we proudly provide first responders with the following benefits:

- Personalized service throughout your college experience from a team of knowledgeable academic advisors
- Potential stacking with other tuition benefits, like the Corporate Advantage Program or Liberty-given military benefits.
*With the exception of portfolio evaluation.
Non-degree seeking or certificate students, as well as those receiving the $300/credit hour doctoral military rate, are not eligible for the First Responder Discount.

Tuition as Low as $188 per Credit Hour for First Responders with Military Experience
The majority of tuition for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs has not increased in 9 years. While many other online colleges have raised tuition, Liberty has been able to keep costs low as a nonprofit university. And our tuition rate for military service members and first responder personnel is even lower.
Many military veterans are often employed as first responders in their civilian careers. Unlike most other scholarships or discounts, prior military members can stack their Liberty-given military tuition discount with our First Responder Discount, as long as all qualifications are met. Students who qualify for both discounts can take advantage of the rate below for some of our popular programs:
- Undergraduate –

Who Qualifies for the First Responder Discount?
If you are looking for a police discount, EMS discount, or firefighter discount, you have come to the right place!
Liberty University defines first responders as those who are currently (or within the last five years) employed, volunteering, or retired from areas of law enforcement, emergency services, fire safety and rescue work, TSA, and Civil Air Patrol (CAP) senior members.
The First Responder Discount is also offered in place of a civil air patrol scholarship for those public servants.

How Can I Claim the First Responder Discount?
Police officers, firefighters, EMS, and other first responder members, please see below to request your discount:
Fax (434) 582-2053 or email luofirstresponders@liberty.edu the following information:
- Proof of employment or volunteer status on letterhead from an employer or volunteer agency OR a legible copy of position identification card. Additional documentation may be requested as needed.
- Include student ID number and mark all communication as “Attention: Scholarships.”
Military
Liberty University is dedicated to providing world-class educational experiences to military students across the globe.

Available Benefits:
- Tuition discounts – $250 per credit hour for undergraduate, $275 per credit hour for graduate, and $300 per credit hour for doctoral courses*
- Additional discount for veterans who serve in a civilian capacity as a First Responder**
- 8-week courses, 8 different start dates each year, and no set login times (may exclude certain courses such as practicums, internships, or field experiences)
*For eligible current and former service members and their spouses. Learn more!
**Not applicable to certificates. Cannot be combined with the $300/credit hour doctoral military rate.

Did You Know?
Parents who attend Liberty University Online may be eligible to receive a 10% tuition discount for their child to enroll with Liberty University Online Academy.
Discount only applicable to tuition for non-dual enrollment courses with Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA). Students must be new to LUOA and enrolled in full-time courses to be eligible. At least one parent must have completed a course with Liberty University Online (LUO) within the last 24 months to be eligible. This LUO Parent Discount is not stackable with other discounts. Contact LUOA for further details and to see if your family is eligible.
