Spread the Gospel Around the World With an M.Div. in Global Studies

Does the thought of bringing the Word of God to those in far-off countries excite you? Liberty University’s Master of Divinity in Global Studies will prepare you with the knowledge and skills you need to fulfill the Great Commission. You will gain foundational knowledge in global ministries through courses in apologetics, discipleship, leadership, biblical language skills, Old and New Testament studies, hermeneutics, evangelism, and pastoral counseling.

In addition, you will take part in an in-depth study of world religions. With this training, you will learn how to reach different people groups with the Gospel. You will have the confidence and authority to bring the teachings of Jesus Christ to those in other lands, knowing you have the background and knowledge to teach God’s Word.

What Will You Learn in Our Master of Divinity – Global Studies Degree?

Our Master of Divinity in Global Studies will prepare you for the challenge of spreading God’s Word locally and globally. You will engage in extensive studies of apologetics, church ministry, evangelism, homiletics, Old and New Testament, and theology. In addition, you will gain the language skills needed to uncover some of the dual meanings of words in the Bible. This will lead to skills that will help you interpret the meanings behind certain verses and books in Scripture.

Our global studies specialization will prepare you to fulfill God’s calling for the Great Commission by providing insight and passion for serving the worldwide church. We will prepare you for worldwide service through cultural studies, a review of world religions, ministry and worship techniques, and an intensive study of Scripture.

GLST 500 – Global Studies Survey

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • This course introduces and examines the historical and theoretical foundations of global engagement then develops a framework for interacting with the current needs and realities of a complex and culturally diverse world.

GLST 525 – Introductions to Islam

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • This course explores the historic rise and expansion of Islam. Basic Muslim beliefs and practices are identified, and the diversity within the world of Islam is examined.

GLST 600 – Cultural Anthropology

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • This course introduces the discipline of cultural anthropology with a particular emphasis on studying culture and worldview for the purpose of effective engagement.

 EVAN 525 – World Religions Survey

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • A study of the evangelistic imperative and various methods of personal witnessing.
  • Particular emphasis is given to follow-up, discipleship, and memorizing key Bible verses.

Highlights of Our Master of Divinity Degree

  • Monday-only classes for masters’ programs allow students to complete large portions of their M.Div. degree by only attending class one day a week.
  • We have a state-of-the-art homiletics/teaching lab in our School of Divinity building.
  • Study under theologians and missionaries with real-world experience in the M.Div.’s web-based content developed by Liberty University’s John W. Rawlings School of Divinity.
  • Institutional Challenge Exams (ICE) are available to test out of foundational biblical and theological studies content for the M.Div. program.
