Why Choose Liberty’s M.A.R. in Church Ministry in the Digital Age Degree?

Liberty’s John W. Rawlings School of Divinity is one of the leading academic institutions of theological training. This unique specialization of church ministry in the digital age is designed to prepare anyone who is interested in the growing trend of the digital church. Many larger churches offer live-streaming for their church services or upload content on their website, and they are looking for those with the skills and passion to help spread God’s word.

Upon graduation, you will be equipped to help lead local churches by developing digital ministries that are biblically justified and technologically sound. As you become part of your church’s digital ministry, you will have the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills gained at Liberty from our experienced pastors and theologians.

While here, you will have the opportunity to network with organizations like the International Mission Board (IMB), Summit Church, and Samaritan’s Purse. We also partner with a multitude of local churches and ministries in Lynchburg as well, so you can gain hands-on ministry experience while you complete your degree. Additionally, our new Monday-only program gives you the option to take the majority of the classes you need on Mondays, so you can remain involved in full-time ministry.

What Will You Learn in Our Church Ministry in the Digital Age Degree?

In our Master of Arts in Religion program, you will study the Old and New Testaments in-depth, providing a firm foundation for your degree. You will also take classes designed to give you the skills you need for successful ministry within the Church, such as apologetics, hermeneutics, sermon preparation, and systematic theology.

Your specialization in digital age ministry will teach you how to compose a discipleship ministry strategy for Christian ministries using digital platforms. Your courses will build upon 4 digital domains, which are digital theology, formation, community, and strategies. These courses will provide a balanced exposure to digital ministry regardless of the context of your church.

Our digital ministry will explore the practice of ministry in online digital environments that do not necessarily involve physical gatherings of leaders and participants. You will also dive into the complex question: “Is physical presence a requirement for authentic Christian community?” As you are here, you will devise a plan for personal growth, development, and service.
