Transportation at Liberty University

One major question that future students have about their university is “What is the best way to get around campus?” At Liberty University, there are many options for transportation, whether you need to get to DeMoss Hall, Liberty Mountain, or Lynchburg Regional Airport.

LU Transit Services

LU Transit Services offers multiple bus routes on and off campus, shuttle services to and from the Lynchburg and Roanoke airports, and on-demand rides to anywhere on campus.

Typically, there are multiple buses running on a route at the same time. The primary bus routes on campus are the 71 and 72 routes. Route 71 makes a loop around Main Campus. If you have a class in Green Hall and then a class in DeMoss Hall right after, Route 71 is a great option for getting there on time. Route 72 connects East Campus to Main Campus. If you live on East Campus, Route 72 is a great option for getting around. There are also a number of other bus routes that go to popular apartment complexes throughout Lynchburg, as well as a bus that transports aviation students from campus to the airport. All Liberty bus services are free to use.

The Liberty shuttle services are available to pick-up and drop-off students at the Lynchburg and Roanoke airports, if requested 72 hours in advance. On-Demand Ride (ODR) services are available for all students to utilize as well. Students can use the myLU app to request to be picked up at an ODR stop and be taken anywhere on-campus.

Personal Transportation and Parking

Whether you decide you want to have a car on-campus or not, you won’t have a problem getting around Liberty.

If you bring your car to school, you will have more accessibility to places off campus. You also won’t have to worry about finding parking on campus, since the new eight-story Campus East Parking Garage just opened this fall. However, if you decide not to bring a car, you will have no problem getting around campus, and will be able to use the LU Transit services or ride with friends to go off campus.

To get around campus quickly there are many options. Some options that are currently popular among students include longboards, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, Bird scooters, and more. There are sidewalks and paths covering the entire Liberty University campus, as well as racks all across campus where you can store your mode of transportation.

Additionally, Liberty’s campus is very pedestrian friendly. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk from Green Hall, located on the northern tip of campus, to Main Campus, so if you don’t have any other way to get around, you’ll be just fine!
