3 Ways to Transition Smoothly into College

Summer is a time for rest and relaxation. Last year’s homework is behind you, and there are no due dates in sight. While you should definitely rest and relax this summer, you may also want to do a few things now to best prepare yourself for your first semester at Liberty University!

Review your high school work. This is probably the last thing that you want to do, but you learned some valuable stuff in high school. Take the time to review some of your old material, specifically from the subjects that are foundational to the classes that you’ll be taking your fall semester.

Look ahead at class syllabuses. If your professors have already posted your class syllabus, it would be beneficial for you to read through that now. You’ll start to understand how things are structured at Liberty and also get an idea of the assignments and schedule of your classes. The course syllabus may also list the required materials for the class, such as textbooks. If so, you can go ahead and order them from the bookstore, and they’ll be waiting for you upon your arrival at school!

Organize your computer and notebooks. Once you get knee-deep in assignments, you’ll be putting your documents and papers wherever there’s space. Organization is a simple yet important part of preparing for school. One way to start the process is by creating folders for each of your classes on your computer. This will allow you to easily access your work and reduce clutter on your computer. You can also designate notebooks and binders for each class so that you know exactly where to put your notes and papers. Messiness can add to the stress of school work, but you can set yourself up for proper organization now and avoid that unnecessary stress!

These simple steps will do a lot to bring you peace and a sense of preparedness when it’s time to transition to college. Take bit of time to do them, then kick back by the pool and enjoy your summer!
