Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) – Middle Grades

The Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in Middle Grades is specifically geared toward individuals with no prior teaching experience who are interested in gaining initial teaching licensure in middle school education. You will study math, natural sciences, language acquisition, and reading skills, along with your core courses. The M.A.T. program prepares you for licensure and will ensure that student teaching requirements are met.

This program is approved through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and is a state-approved program for initial licensure in Virginia (reciprocity with other states) or endorsements.
