If you are looking into business degrees with technical areas of study, there are differences to consider. A Master of Business Administration may have some specialized content for computer network systems, but may not provide a complete overview. With an MBA, you may struggle to find roles that require you to handle systems yourself.
The Master of Science in Information Systems is an information systems degree applied to organizations. This means that you can prepare to work in the field — with real businesses, governments, and nonprofits. This degree can help equip you with the necessary business skills to work in such areas while ensuring you’re up-to-date with the best practices for information systems.
If you are interested in a strictly business-focused program, Liberty’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) may be a better fit for you.
Students who want to manage and refine computer networks to support business operations and protect data should consider pursuing an information systems degree. You may see similar programs with names like masters in computer information systems, masters in technology management, or masters in information technology management.
