Liberty University’s Master of Theology – Theology is a postgraduate program designed for students like you who have previously completed a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree. This degree will advance your knowledge of the doctrine of God and will cover key concepts regarding the present and future of the Christian ministry. By pursuing this degree, you’ll be able to answer the questions of today’s Christian ministries.

What Will You Learn in Our Master of Theology (Th.M.) – Theology Degree?

Your core courses will cover both modern and contemporary Christian thought and how they relate to the issues we face today. No theology program would be complete without studying the nature of God and the doctrine passed down from God to humanity. Understanding His decree and plan for humanity is an integral part of this degree program.

With the changing nature of the world and the many ethical challenges facing Christian ministry today, you will need to learn exactly what the role of theology is in public discourse. THEO 620 – Ecclesiology

Here’s what you’ll study:

  • This course is a study of the origin, nature, purpose, mission, polity, and ministry of the church.
  • A major emphasis will be on Baptist ecclesiology.

THEO 626 – Doctrine of God

Here’s what you’ll study:

  • A study of the existence, nature, and attributes of the triune God.
  • Contains a study of such doctrines as the decree of God, Creation, the providence of God, and the doctrine of the Trinity.

THEO 630 – Eschatology

Here’s what you’ll study:

  • A discussion of several issues challenging the church today in relation to dispensational hermeneutics, the rapture, the tribulation, the millennial kingdom, the future of the church, and the nations.
  • You will also learn recent attempts to coordinate Bible prophecy with current events.

THEO 650 – Public Theology

Here’s what you’ll study:

  • The role and practice of Christian ministry in responding to ethical challenges presented by cultural developments in the contemporary world.

  • Monday-only classes for master’s programs allow students to complete large portions of their postgraduate degree by only attending class one day a week.
  • We have a state-of-the-art homiletics/teaching lab in our School of Divinity building.
  • Our Scriptorium houses the Rawlings Foundation rare books collection valued at over $1 million, a 111 ft.-long Torah scroll that dates to the 16th century, and a functioning replica of the Gutenberg Printing Press.
