Liberty Insider – Spring

This year’s Commencement honored over 29,000 Liberty graduates in the Class of 2024. Over 2,000 members of the Class of 2024 are active-duty service members, and more than 6,000 have military ties, including the oldest graduate – an 81-year-old veteran.

U.S. Senator Tim Scott provided the keynote address during Friday night’s Main Ceremony in Williams Stadium. Friday’s ceremony also included messages from former Secretary of State and Distinguished Chair of the Helms School of Government Mike Pompeo and Liberty President Dondi E. Costin. Duck Commander CEO and the parent of a Liberty graduate Willie Robertson offered the closing prayer.

“Liberty University has always been a place, since 1971, where we Train Champions for Christ,” Liberty Chancellor Jonathan Falwell stated during his brief invocation. “And now, while we’ve been doing that for 53 years, it’s exciting to see and exciting to know that we have not stopped nor will we ever stop doing that singular thing of training up young champions who will go into a world that desperately needs to see, hear and know what light looks like.”

Whenever Commencement season arrives, I am reminded of just how many Champions for Christ we have in our LUO family. Seeing many of these students arrive on campus to receive their diplomas is a special treat for us on the Online Life team because we get a chance to meet people we have been talking to online in person. We love hearing your stories of God’s faithfulness and provision as all the years of hard work culminate in the completion of your degree program. We would love to hear your stories! Send us an email at onlinestudentlife@liberty.edu and tell us about your time at Liberty.

For our returning students, we will be continuing several of our initiatives during the Summer 2024 semester. Our latest student development offerings are designed to empower you in every aspect of your life:

  • Immerse yourself in our book studies, where you’ll expand your mind with captivating reads like Atomic Habits by James Clear, Boundaries by Cloud & Townsend, or Strengths Finder by Clifton through social interaction and connection with like-minded peers.
  • Elevate your communication, people skills, and leadership with the renowned Dale Carnegie Course, a transformative journey towards mastering interpersonal skills essential for personal and professional success.
  • Take charge of your financial future with Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, where you’ll gain invaluable insights and strategies to achieve lasting financial stability.

But hurry – seats for our sessions starting in June are filling up fast! Seize this opportunity to embark on your journey toward personal growth and excellence. Enroll today to secure your spot! Visit our Personal Development Resources website for more information.

We are also excited about the expansion of our student engagement plans for the 2024-2025 school year. We will be continuing to grow our online community group, adding more in-person events, and launching new programs to help you connect with your university and classmates.

We couldn’t do any of these things without you… so THANK YOU! We are thankful that God has had our paths cross during this season of your life.

God Bless,

Brian Marker
Director of Online Life
