Prior Learning Assessment for Foreign Language

Liberty University awards credit for the following training programs that have received college-credit recommendations from the American Council on Education.

  • Berlitz International, Inc.
  • Graduate School
  • National Cryptologic School

*Students need to have official transcript submitted by their Language Institute or ACE.


CLEP Exam

CLEP offers exams for French, German and Spanish. Please review the minimum required score for this exam.  Exams are offered through approved testing centers all over the United States.


New York University Language Proficiency Exam

NYU offers more than 50 proficiency tests.  Contact NYU to find out if there is a testing center in your area or find a qualified test proctor in your area. Upon completion of the proficiency exam, request an official NYU transcript to be sent to Liberty University Online Processing.  Up to 12 credits may be awarded.


ACTFL Proficiency Exam

ACTFL offers over 60 oral proficiency interviews through Language Testing International (LTI).  The American Council on Education has reviewed the exams and determined the appropriate credit awards based on the OPI scores.  For more information about testing through LTI, please call 800-486-8444.  Upon completion of the OPI, please have ACE transcript records sent to Liberty University Online Processing.
