Students who previously earned or currently hold certificates and/or ratings may not enroll in the correlating courses at Liberty University. For example, if a student previously earned/holds an Instrument Rating – Fixed Wing, they may not enroll in the corresponding Instrument courses (AVIA 310 Instrument Ground and AVIA 320 Instrument Flight). Students must submit all earned/held certificates and/or ratings to eplus@liberty.edu to receive the respective approved transfer credit. Students may not use LU flight fees/funds to pay for certificates and/or ratings previously earned/ held.

Students who already hold a Commercial Rotary license have two options:

  1. A student who has earned a Commercial Rotary License and does not desire to transition to a fixed-wing pilot, submits the earned Commercial Rotary License to eplus@liberty.edu for flight training credential credits (AVIA 216, 220, 225, 310, 315, 320, 325, 326, 327). The student is considered a degree finish-up student and will complete the remaining degree requirements online; however, they will not seek flight training at LU.
  2. A student who has earned a Commercial Rotary License and desires to transition to a fixed-wing pilot, must follow the path of a traditional flight student. The student will begin at Private Pilot Certification (AVIA 216, 220, 225), followed by Instrument Rating (AVIA 310, 320), then Commercial Pilot Certification (AVIA 315, 325, 326, 327) with the option of advancing to Multi-Engine Add-on Rating as well as Flight Instructor Certifications.
