ABOUT THE 71 CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Rising from its humble beginnings in 1971 with just 154 students, Liberty University will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary. It’s been an amazing journey. During these nearly five decades, more than 250,000 Liberty students have trained to serve as Champions for Christ in all walks of life. From the start, founder Dr. Jerry Falwell was determined to provide a quality Christian education. As a result, he asked for 15,000 people to join him in providing a partial scholarship for the burgeoning student population — thus, The 15,000 Club was born. Its goal was to provide funds for needy students.
Over the years, tens of thousands of friends helped make this program a tremendous success. Today, multitudes of Liberty alumni are serving the Lord across the nation and the world because of those who gave. To continue the long tradition of scholarship assistance, Liberty University is launching The 71 Club. With the cost of higher education skyrocketing in recent years, the debt load for American college graduates has dramatically increased — exceeding $1.6 trillion and growing every day. Our vision is to reverse this trend for LU students with the help of alumni and friends!
The vision of The 71 Club is simple: to provide direct scholarship assistance to students in need. This means that every dime of your gift — 100% of it — will go into a special account marked solely for The 71 Club scholarships. I am asking all alumni and friends of Liberty University to consider joining The 71 Club with a gift of $19.71 or more. Together, we can change this world for Christ.
BE THE CHAMPION THEY NEED
For a gift of $200 or more, you will receive a certificate, which is suitable for framing, identifying you as a charter member of The 71 Club Scholarship Fund.
Each semester you will also receive The 71 Club newsletter explaining how your gift is making a difference for Liberty students.
Above all, you will know you are continuing the tradition of training a new generation that will go out as champions for the cause of Christ.
