Liberty 'phenomenon' featured in 2016 State of the Commonwealth Report

The 2016 State of the Commonwealth Report features a 20-page article on the Liberty University’s explosive growth and “burst into prominence” over the last decade. The report is produced by the Center for Economic Analysis and Policy at Old Dominion University and is jointly sponsored by ODU’s Strome College of Business and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Fallen service member in Syria was spouse of LU nursing student

Liberty University has learned that the first American to be killed in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria, Senior Chief Petty Officer Scott C. Dayton, was the husband of Liberty graduate nursing student Kristin Dayton. The university asks for continued prayers for the Dayton family as they grieve the loss of their loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Football game pays tribute to nation’s heroes, concludes Military Emphasis Week

Rockets whizzed up to the sky above Williams Stadium on Saturday, bursting in a red glare, as a patriotic halftime celebration honored U.S. veterans and service members in front of more than 21,700 fans — the second-largest football crowd in Liberty University history. The spectacle punctuated Liberty’s annual Military Emphasis Week.
