Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

Admission Requirements

  1. Apply online or download an application for admission and submit it via mail.
  2. A $50.00 application fee will be assessed at time of application.
  3. Official college transcripts (sealed, unopened copy).
  4. Master's degree in education (or a related field) with a 3.0 GPA from an institution that is accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
    Applicants with a non-educational master’s degree may be required to complete M.Ed. core courses (up to 12 additional hours) before taking any post-graduate coursework.

  6. Statement of Purpose
    • The statement should be 1,000 - 1,250 words, typed, and should highlight past experience in an education-related field, future goals in the field of education, personal strengths that will contribute to your success as a doctoral student, and how a Christian education will help you develop as an educational professional.
  7. TOEFL scores for students who speak English as a second language (score of 600 paper-based test; 250 computer-based test; 80 internet-based test).

The Office of Graduate Admissions may request additional documentation when conducting admission reviews to evaluate a candidate’s record before a final admission decision can be made.

Please note: Guidelines are subject to change in federal or state regulations for the licensure of school personnel.


Preliminary Acceptance

If you are sending in a preliminary transcript for acceptance, you must:
  • Be in your final semester and
    • lack nine hours or less for master's degrees that require 30-48 credit hours.
    • lack twelve hours or less for master's degrees that require 49 or more credit hours.
  • Submit a final official transcript with degree conferral prior to registering for your second semester with Liberty Univeristy.

Official College Transcript Policy

An acceptable official college transcript must be issued directly from the institution in a sealed envelope with a signature across the back. If you have one in your possession, it must meet the same requirements.
