These discussions will allow the student to practice a variety of writing techniques that will prove useful and necessary in the world of fashion writing. Some discussions also encourage students to think deeply and engage with classmates on the philosophy and worldview aspects of fashion writing. Fashion Trend Museum Assignment
In this assignment students will provide a brief summary on two current fashion trends of their choice. These summaries should be appropriate for submission for a museum. The student will also provide five sources per summary to back up the claims made in the summary. (CLO: A, B, D, E)
Sales Text Assignment
In this assignment students will write up brief descriptions of the clothing items presented in provided pictures. These descriptions will be suited for a sales environment such as a magazine or sales website. Students are encouraged to be creative in wording and practice keeping a sales focus and knowing both audience and object of sale well enough to be persuasive. (CLO: A, B, E)
Vogue Article Assignment
In this assignment students will practice fashion critique, writing for magazines, and writing in the voice of an organization by composing an article on a recent fashion show as if the article was to be published in Vogue. (CLO: A, B, D, E)
Marketing Campaign Assignment
In this assignment students will put together written aspects of a small marketing campaign for a clothing line of their choice. Students will compose five emails and five social media posts that work together to promote this line of clothing and ultimately to drive sales. (CLO: A, B, E)
Quizzes
Students will complete 4 quizzes. Each quiz will cover the reading material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5 multiple-choice questions, and have a 30 minute time limit.
