Rationale
The student will study the literary components, complexity, and craft of creative poetry writing, including how to successfully explicate selected poems. The student will also learn how to create original works of publishable quality. The course allows students to develop creative writing skills in poetry to impact the world for Christ.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 250 words and each reply must be at least 200 words.
Original Poetry: Peer Review Assignments (5)
The student will create 5 original poems based off the appropriate form for the module. The student will also provide an analysis of his/her writing process. The analysis must be 150-250 words and be on a separate page from the poem itself. The student will also provide critiques for a peer’s original poem including line-by-line and summary critiques. The student will be graded on both his/her original poem and the quality and quantity of his/her peer reviews.
Original Poetry: All Poem Revisions Assignment
The student will complete thorough revisions of the 5 poems produced in the course and submit this for review. In the assignment, the student will provide revision notes of at least 100 words for each poem to show growth as a writer.
