WMUS 630 Principles of Worship Technology
Course Description
The study of computer applications in music, with a particular focus on competencies in the use of notation software. Other music technology skills are introduced, such as music recording software and sequencing.

Rationale
Music technology presents tremendous opportunities for worship leaders around the globe to capture worship in both live and recording situations. This course will equip worship leadership to produce notated versions of the music they create, arrange, and record, enabling them to train their teams to disseminate the music both locally and globally. Students will learn Finale, which is currently a music industry standard for engraving and skill development for musicians, and is crucial for creating readable and easily manipulated charts for all aspects of worship, including praise band, singers, choir, and orchestra.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be 250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be a minimum of 150 words.
Tutorial Assignments (10)
The student will use the Tutorial presentations to submit his/her own completed tutorials in Finale and Ableton formats. Each video tutorial presentation will outline the process and provide a template for completing the corresponding tutorial assignment.
Digital Audio Worksheet Assignment
The student will research terminology commonly used by worship leaders and complete a provided worksheet to learn more about the technical equipment available to him/her as a worship leader.
Project Assignments (4)
The student will submit 4 projects that will be completed after the specified tutorials are completed: (1) Lead Sheet, (2) Piano Vocal Chart, (3) Praise Band Chart, (4) Full Orchestration. Each project must be completed in Finale format.
Quiz: Setup Preferences
The quiz will cover the presentation material in Module 1. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5 multiple-choice or true/false questions, and have a 30-minute time limit.
Quiz: Digital Audio
The quiz will cover the Digital Audio Worksheet from the Learn section in the module. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 45-minute time limit.
Quiz: Ableton LIVE Basics
The quiz will cover the basic windows, tools, and functions of Ableton Live. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5 multiple-choice or true/false questions, and have a 1-hour time limit.
