Course Description

Professional-supervised experience in first-hand internship opportunities in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language. Must apply semester prior to completing internship.

Rationale

This course provides an opportunity for students to have first-hand experience in teaching English as a second/foreign language under faculty supervision.

Internship Update and Signed Log Assignments (8)

Students in this internship are required to complete and track 135 hours of teaching, planning, creating curriculum, and observation at an approved organization site under the direct supervision of a TESL credentialed supervisor using the Internship Update and Signed Log Form. 

Supervisor Evaluation Assignment

At the conclusion of the students 135 hours of service in their internship site/location, the student should request from their supervisor an internship evaluation.

Reflection Paper Assignment

The student will write a 750-1,000 word reflection paper in current APA format that focuses on the internship experience. 

Students will submit their TESL 499 Internship Application that was approved by a TESL Internship Coordinator.  This is for record-keeping purposes.
