Course Description
Advanced Social Work Macro Practice addresses an in-depth approach to social work practice with communities and organizations. Students engage members of a community or organization and identify strengths, needs, opportunities, and threats. Emphasis is placed on the strengths of the entity and students are encouraged to use an empowerment model to aid the entity in capitalizing on their strengths.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, in every discussion, except for Discussion: Grant Proposal Pitch, the student will post one thread of at least 350 words demonstrating course-related knowledge and answering or addressing all items in the discussion topic/prompt. Each reply must be at least 250 words and demonstrate professionalism, cultural humility, and be presented in such a way that the core social work values are upheld. Each thread must include at least two scholarly citations and each reply must include at least one scholarly citation. Outside scholarly sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include the textbook, the Bible, journal articles and other scholarly sources. The use of additional sources is encouraged.
For Discussion: Grant Proposal Pitch, the student will submit a video presentation, not to exceed 6 minutes, of his/her grant proposal pitch. The videos the student provides should have quality audio, and the lighting and background should enhance the video. From a list of suggested books that highlight a social work advocate, the student will select one to read. Then, based on the chosen book, the student will write a four-page essay addressing the assignment prompts on the advocacy skills displayed. (CLO: J; Competency: 10)
The student will use the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (2004) model (resources, activities, outputs, outcomes, and impact) to outline implementing a program.
The student will use the Letter of Interest template to express interest in a grant opportunity from a 501(c)(3).
Using the provided template, the student will complete a full grant proposal application to the 501(c)(3) to whom he/she had expressed interest in the previous module.
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 40 minute time limit. (CLO: A, B, C; Competencies: 1, 2, 3; Dimensions: Knowledge)
