The Generalist Bridge Course prepares the student for graduate work in social work, including basic introduction to competencies, orientation to social work values, writing and technology proficiencies.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

This assignment provides the student with the opportunity to practice graduate writing skills. The student will use APA format and a professional voice when writing the paper. After viewing the two required Watch items, completing the Quiz: Graduate Writing, and reading the provided Trammel et. al. article from the Learn section of the same module, the student will use the provided Graduate Paragraph Template to complete a chart and write a graduate-level paper about the Trammel article in 3 paragraphs. The student will include one paragraph for each of the following: a summary of the study, a biblical analysis of the topic, and an entry on the student’s personal views in relation to the findings of the study. The paper is to include all of the following: in the summary paragraph, at least one in-text citation for a direct quotation from the Trammel article; in the biblical analysis paragraph, at least one in-text citation from the Bible or a biblical resource for a verse or biblical principle; in the personal views paragraph, at least one paraphrase from the Trammel article. The paper will also include an APA title and reference page. (CLO: A, C) (Competency 1)

The student will have the opportunity to use the information they learned within the assignment’s module regarding program requirements, university policies, and course scheduling to create their proposed course schedule. Using the provided Proposed Course Schedule Template, the student will create the proposed course schedule, being sure to include each required course for degree completion on the schedule. The schedule must demonstrate a strong understanding of the program requirements as it relates to the order in which courses can and must be taken. The student must consider the scheduling of field enrollments and field experiences to meet program requirements and their own personal schedule. The student must also be sure to review the “MSW Course Information” Module in the LUO MSW Student Community for course descriptions and prerequisite information. (CLO: A) (Competency 1)

The student will assess the impact of life experiences on one’s personal and professional life. This assignment will be a  750-1,000-word response to provided prompts. The paper must be in APA format and follow the formatting of the provided template. (CLO: A,B) (Competencies 1, 7)

The student will submit their plan for completing the hours required for Generalist field experience and his/her plan for completing the hours required for Advanced Generalist field experience. The student will submit a list of five agencies in their area that they could consider for hosting their field experience.  The student will use the provided template to complete this assignment and must fill out all information as requested by the prompts in the template with thorough detail. (CLO: A) (Competency 1)

The student will take quizzes over the assignment learning materials in the modules. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain varying numbers of questions (1, 5, 10, 12, 15, 20) of varying types (multiple choice, true/false, multiple answer, file upload, essay), allow for varying numbers of attempts depending on the quiz (1 allowed attempt; 2 allowed attempts with the highest counting towards the grade; unlimited attempts with the highest counting towards the grade), and have no time limit.
