This course is designed to keep the student aware of the most current themes and topics within industrial/organizational psychology today. This is an I/O concentration course that gives each student the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of both research application that is both current and even anticipates future trends and events.

Discussion: Current Research Trends Summary

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion assignment. Discussion threads that answer the questions presented must be at least 1250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to two other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250 words. For each thread, the student must support his or her assertions with at least 10 scholarly citations in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format which must include one academic reference and one biblical application. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Discussions (3)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, for the Modules: Weeks that each student will not be presenting his or her Narrated PowerPoint, he or she will be reviewing and responding to 2 classmates’ PowerPoints. For each Discussion, the professor will post one thread with the submissions from the Research Presentation: Narrated PowerPoint Assignment and the student will then post 2 replies of at least 250 words. Each reply must incorporate at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include empirical journal articles, the Bible, etc.

Research Proposal Assignments (7)

Research Proposal: Annotated Bibliography Assignments (2)

In preparation of the Research Presentation: Narrated PowerPoint Assignment, the student will prepare two annotated bibliographies of articles that will be used in his or her presentation. Each annotated bibliography submission will include a minimum of 7 articles (for a total of 21 articles on his or her topic). The first annotated bibliography submission will also include a one-sentence description of the topic chosen. This assignment is expected to be in annotated bibliography format and should include 7 journal articles per submission. Research Proposal: Introduction: Draft – PowerPoint Assignments (3)

In these assignments the student will propose the current state of the research on a chosen topic in industrial/organizational psychology. The student is expected to present a clear overview of the current research on his or her topic, a discussion of gaps and limitations to the research, a biblical view of the topic, and a proposed study to further this research area. The student will include the required slides, as outlined in Canvas, in each of these drafts. The student’s final narrated presentation is expected to be 30-45 minutes in length so he or she should plan accordingly in this section.

Research Proposal: Method: Draft: Part 3 – PowerPoint Assignment

In this assignment, the student will propose the methods, stats, timeline, limitations, and proposed next steps to this research. This should be based on the Research Proposal: Introduction: Draft – PowerPoint Assignments carrying out the method and statistical part of that proposal in this assignment. 

Research Proposal: Submission: Part 4 – PowerPoint Assignment

In this assignment, the student is expected to present a clear overview of the current research on his or her topic, a discussion of gaps and limitations to the research, a biblical view of the topic, and a proposed study to further this research area. The student will be including his or her final drafts of both the introduction and method sections. The student’s final narrated presentation is expected to be 30-45 minutes in length.

Research Presentation: Narrated PowerPoint Assignment

For this presentation, the student will prepare a narrated PowerPoint presentation on his or her previously selected research topic. In the PowerPoint presentation, the student will describe the area of research he or she has researched, evaluate the current state of the research (including areas that need more research), a biblical discussion of the topic, and introduce a proposed study to further the research area. The presentation will include sources cited and referenced in current APA format. The student will also narrate the presentation.
