The purpose of this course is to give the student both the skills and knowledge to be an effective organizational leader and influencer. It is not just organizational knowledge and skill, but the student’s individual skills and ability as a persuader, communicator, negotiator, and observer, that determine his or her success as an organizational leader. This course focuses on understanding the people, systems, and policies in organizations that influence organizational development, behavior, and change. This course also is designed to give the student relevant theory, knowledge, and tangible skills to be effective in navigating and influencing real-world organizations. This course is the most practical or applied course in the I/O cognate.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences, Therefore, after completing the assigned self-assessment assignment, the student will create a discussion thread using information gained from the report to discuss how it relates to the workplace. The student will also address two different applied questions and discuss how the concepts being discussed are relevant from a biblical worldview perspective. Each thread must be a minimum of 1000 words and use at least 8 different citations from current scholarly research, in current APA format. In addition, the student is required to reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be a minimum of 300 words and use at least one citation in current APA format. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Research Paper: Reference Page Assignments

The student will submit a reference page that includes a minimum of 10 current, scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles that are intended for use in the research paper assignment. In addition, a reference for the Bible and the course textbook are required. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Research Paper: Virtual Leadership Assignment

The student will write 8 pages of expository content for a research-based paper in the current APA format that focuses on virtual leadership and an examination of virtual leadership through the Christian worldview perspective. In addition, the paper must include a title page, abstract, and reference list. The paper must include citations from at least 10 current, scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D)
