PLST 210 Introduction to E-Discovery
Course Description
This course provides an overview of transitioning of the traditional discovery methods to digital evidence. The course will introduce the student to the practice of addressing documents, email, pictures, web pages, social media, and databases generally, now housed in a digital format. The course will address e-discovery methods in both the civil and criminal context while assessing the impact of the Christian worldview.

Rationale
Today’s evolving legal landscape requires an in-depth understanding of electronic discovery (“E-Discovery”) as a critical component for successful legal practice. The purpose of this course is to provide students with a foundational understanding of E-Discovery.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be at least 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. The student will write a 2-3-page research-based paper in current Bluebook format that focuses on preservation of data. The paper must include at least 2 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: D)
Paper: Bring Your Own Device (“BYOD”) Policies Assignment
The student will write a 2-3-page research-based paper in current Bluebook format that focuses on BYOD policies. The paper must include at least 2 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: D, F)
Paper: The Online Communications and Geolocations Protection Act Assignment
The student will write a 2-3-page research-based paper in current Bluebook format that focuses on privacy rights. The paper must include at least 2 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: F)
Quizzes (4)
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module(s): week(s). Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 questions (2 Short Answer questions, 2 True/False questions, and 6 Multiple Choice questions), and have a 30-minute time limit. (CLO: A, B, C, D)
