Course Description

This course examines the current challenges facing those who would lead as public servants in the political context. Contemporary legal challenges as well as shifting cultural demographics, political movements, and strategies for urban and community development will be discussed. A biblical perspective on these developments will be provided.

Rationale

This course connects public administration theory with practical and legal realities of public administration practice and provides the student with valuable opportunities to apply knowledge of the public administration field to contemporary issues facing public administration practitioners.

Discussion Board Forums (3)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be 400–500 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 2 citations in current APA format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250–300 words and include at least 1 citation in current APA format.

Assignments (3)

For each of these Assignments, the student will write a 5–7-page research-based paper in current APA format, create a 9–10-minute Power Point presentation, or record a 9–10-minute video that focuses on the assigned topic. Each Assignment must include 4–7 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.

Administrative Memoranda (2)

The student will write two 3–5-page research-based Administrative Memoranda in current APA format that analyze the assigned topics. Each paper must include at least 2 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
