PADM 510 Fundamentals of Public Safety Leadership
Course Description
This course introduces the student to leadership principles and practices applicable to the management and administration of public safety organizations. The student will learn how to function effectively as a leader within their own organizations and in a collaborative, multijurisdictional, and multidisciplinary public safety environment.

Rationale
This course provides a background in the various theories of leadership. Additionally, this course explores how these leadership theories might be utilized in the field of public safety. For those that seek positions of leadership, whether formal or informal, leadership skills and abilities are critical. Because of this, this course seeks to prepare students to utilize an array of leadership styles, theories and traits in an effort to be a more successful leader in public safety.

The student will write a 7-9-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on the central differences between leadership and management as well as which is most critical to the field of public safety. The paper must include at least 5 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
Research Paper: Leadership Philosophy Assignment
The student will write a 10-12-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on your selected leader and their leadership style. The paper will also focused upon your selected leadership style and its applicability to the field of public safety. The paper must include at least 9 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
