Rationale
Because of the vital role of nutrition in preconception, pregnancy and lactation, this class is an essential component for the Master of Science program. While students may enter the class with an awareness of the general importance of nutrition in these stages, it is through the material covered in this class they will learn about the specifics of preconception nutrition, nutrition during pregnancy, and lactation. Students will reflect on how to view these topic through the lens of God’s Word.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete four Discussions. Each Discussion will consist of a thread of at least 500 words and two replies of at least 200 words each. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least two scholarly citations in current AMA format. Each reply must incorporate at least two scholarly citations in current AMA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include the textbook and peer-reviewed journal articles. The instructor is looking for substantial, thoughtful, and critical discussions.
The student will examine, analyze, and synthesize information from literature on various topics related to nutrition in pregnancy and lactation. All assignments must be completed in current AMA format and include at least five scholarly citations published within the last five years.
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 7–31 true/false, multiple-choice, essay, and/or short-answer questions, and have a time limit of 1 hour and 10 minutes or 1 hour and 20 minutes.
