Rationale
It is nutrition’s important role throughout the life-cycle that makes this class an essential component for the Masters in Science program. While students may enter the class with an awareness of the general importance of nutrition through the life-cycle, it is through the material covered in this class that, they will learn about preconception nutrition, specific deficiency risks, factors influencing food intake, strategies to overcome poor nutrition intake and how to assess growth. Students will reflect on how to view these topic through the lens of God’s Word.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 500 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 2 references in current AMA format, unless otherwise specified in the prompt. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to the threads of at least 2 classmates. Each reply must be at least 200 words.
Case Study Assignments (2)
The student will address two (2) case studies. These case studies provide a real-life example of a situation common in the pediatric nutrition world and aims to develop the student’s skills at using some of the most prevalent tools discussed during the course. The student will be required to answer a set of questions and provide references for their answers from scholarly sources in current AMA style.
Course Project Assignments (2)
The course project is the student’s opportunity to create his/her own case study. The student will be constructing a case study and through that case study, demonstrate his/her ability to synthesize and apply the information the student is learning.
The student will watch a brief video about potential career paths for those in the MS in Nutrition Program and take a quiz. The quiz will consist of 5 true/false and multiple-choice questions, and it will have no time limit.
