This is a course that covers all aspects of human anatomy through lectures. Students will be taught the fundamentals of human anatomy required for various healthcare careers. Relevant applications to various clinical imaging techniques including x-ray radiography and invasive clinical procedures such as lumbar puncture are discussed from the physician's perspective. This course precedes MSCI 512 which includes the use of human cadavers.
This course is foundational to the understanding of the structure and function of the human body. It provides the necessary framework upon which other biomedical courses develop and expand the knowledge needed for the student planning on a career in the healthcare community.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will create a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to the threads of at least 2 classmates. Each reply must be at least 150 words.
Audio PowerPoint Presentation Assignment
The student will create an Audio PowerPoint presentation on an organ of the body assigned to him or her in Module 2: Week 2. The student will include a description of the anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies of the assigned organ. The Audio PowerPoint presentation must be 8–15 minutes long and include at least 3 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
Each Quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Module: Week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain true or false questions and multiple-choice questions, and have a time limit as follows:
- Quiz: Anatomy Overview and the Back – One hour and 15 minutes
- Quiz: The Thorax Overview, Superficial Thoracic and Deep Thoracic – One hour
- Quiz: The Mediastinum and the Heart – One hour and 15 minutes
- Quiz: The Abdomen: Overview, Superficial Abdomen, and Digestive System – One hour
- Quiz: The Pelvis, and the Male and Female Reproductive Systems – One hour
- Quiz: The Brain, Spinal Cord and Special Senses – One hour and 15 minutes
Quiz: Midterm Exam and Quiz: Final Exam
The Quiz: Midterm Exam will cover the information from Module 1: Week 1 – Module 5: Week 5 and the Quiz: Final Exam will cover the information from Module 5: Week 5 – Module 8: Week 8. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain true/false and multiple-choice questions. The Quiz: Midterm Exam will have a time limit of 2 hours. The Quiz: Final Exam will have a time limit of 2 hours.
