Course Description

This course explores the area of quality management, and is cross-referenced with PMBOK concepts. Topical coverage includes: foundations of quality, the contemporary application of quality concepts, quality paradigms, tools for managing project quality, and quality in practice.  Current best practices in quality management will also be discussed.

This is one of several courses covering advanced topics in Project Management, cross-referenced with PMBOK concepts. The student will explore the critical elements of quality design, product and service delivery, quality process monitoring and quality audits.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in Module 1: Week 1.

Discussions (3)

The student will complete three Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 500 words. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 250 words. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 4 scholarly citations in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include peer-reviewed journals and other information found in the JFL, the textbook, the Bible.

Critical Path vs. Critical Chain Paper Assignment

This paper will compare and contrast two scheduling philosophies/methods.  The student will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each and explain when each method may be appropriate and for which types of projects.  The paper will be 3-5 pages long, be written in APA format including at least 5 references to peer-reviewed/scholarly journals in addition to the course text.

Integration of Faith and Learning Assignment

The student will select appropriate Biblical content and relate the message of God as it relates to work in the field of quality and project management.  This assignment will be 5 - 8 pages long and will address the role and responsibility of the Christian as project manager. At least 5 references from scholarly journals and the Bible, in addition to your text, must be used. Current APA format must be used.

Tallus Packaging Case Study Assignment

After reading and absorbing the Case Study in Quality Management contained in the MH Create text, the student will identify the quality issues described.  Then the student will propose recommendations for manufacturing and quality processes designed to address the quality gaps identified. At least 3 scholarly references must be used in addition to the text. Current APA format must be used.

Sunny State Hospital Case Study Assignment

This case study will challenge the student to determine the steps in a process then apply lean six-sigma principles to address project/operations improvements to satisfy objectives mandated by the customer and strategic leaders of the organization. At least 3 scholarly references in addition to the text must be used. Current APA format must be used.
