MATH 100 is designed as a review of beginning algebra in order to prepare the non-mathematics major who does not have a strong background in Algebra I or has never taken an algebra course. The concepts covered will provide the knowledge needed to meet the prerequisites for MATH 110.
Course Assignment
Digital Resources
Under the Student Resources folder in Canvas is a link to the Multimedia Library of MyLab Math. This library contains many digital resources for all topics of the course, in lieu of a textbook or an eBook. In addition, each homework assignment automatically includes embedded media resources of mini lessons for the student to view prior to completing the assigned problems.
Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Homework Assignments (55)
Every homework (HW) in MyLab Math has embedded digital lessons for the student to view prior to completing the assigned problems. A 70% is required on each assignment to move on to the next homework assignment or quiz in that module.
Written work must be submitted for every exam. This work will be used to assign partial credit on tests. No exam is accepted without the accompanying written work. Every calculable problem needs to have written work shown, or the exam will not be accepted.
Exam Assignments (3)
Using the MyLab Math software, the student will take 3 exams throughout the course. Exams are based on the concepts presented from the media resources and exercises from homework, quizzes, and reviews. The exam will remain inaccessible until the minimum score is reached on the exam review assignments, and the instructor will provide a password to access the exam at the appropriate time. All exams will have a time limit. The use of a basic calculator is allowed. The student must submit all written work for the exam questions. Exams submitted without the accompanying work will not be accepted.
Exam Final Assignment
The student will complete a comprehensive Final Exam in MyLab Math. A comprehensive Final Exam Review is provided to help prepare the student for the actual exam. The exam will remain inaccessible until the minimum score is reached on the review assignment, and the instructor will provide a password to access the exam at the appropriate time. The Final Exam will have a time limit. The use of a basic calculator is allowed. The student must submit all written work for the final exam questions. Any Final Exam submitted without the accompanying work will not be accepted.
Quizzes will be administered through the MyLab Math software. Each quiz has 10 questions and will be based on the concepts presented in the media resources and homework of the assigned module. There is no time limit for completion.
Quiz: Study Skills
After reading “Math Anxiety & Study Skills,” the student will complete this quiz in Canvas. This quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. This quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5 essay questions, and will have a 1-hour time limit.
