Course Description

This course serves as a further exploration of an aspect of professional coaching that includes wellness. This course will examine health and wellness from a Christian perspective with special attention given to a biblical foundation of health and wellness coaching.

Rationale

Professional life coaching has wellness as an orientation at its core. Life coaching works to develop the complete person, and the physical aspect of a person plays a role in the overall growth of a person. This aspect of coaching includes educating people on the importance and the benefits of developing a healthy lifestyle. It also includes the development of skills to maintain a well-balanced life. This course works to equip students with the basic foundations of health and wellness coaching from a biblical perspective.

Discussions (6)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete six Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 250 words. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 150 words. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in APA or Turabian format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation in APA or Turabian format. Acceptable sources include journal articles, the textbooks, etc. (CLO: A-G)

4-MAT Book Review Assignments (2)

The student will complete two 4-MAT book reviews with one over the Dunlop text and the other one over the Arloski text. The 4-MAT book reviews must be 4 full pages and include the following 4 sections: overview/summary of author's key points, concrete response, reflection with insight, and application to the student as a life coach. The paper must be written/formatted in current APA style. (CLO: A, C, E, G)

Quizzes (2)

The student will complete 2 quizzes, Quiz: Mid Term: Health and Wellness Coaching and Quiz: Final: Health and Wellness Coaching that are cumulative and cover the material presented in the textbooks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 50 multiple-choice questions, and have a time limit of 2 hours (120 minutes). (CLO: A-G)
