Rationale
This course is designed to introduce the student to the historical basis of the contemporary health care system and the interactions between political, cultural, and economic factors of health care. The course will provide the student with foundational health knowledge to work as a business professional in the healthcare industry. The topics discussed in this course will prepare business professionals for the healthcare arenas in which he/she will serve.

Discussions (3)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will submit a thread of at least 350 words to the thread prompt and provide a minimum of 2 replies (at least 100 words each) to 2 other class members’ threads. The student must support his/her responses and provide 1 citation for each thread and reply.
Discussion: Legal and Ethical Principles Discussion Presentation
This assignment combines a presentation with a peer discussion. The student will post a 12-slide narrated presentation to the discussion thread, citing a minimum of 8 academic sources in APA format. Then, the student will engage at least 2 classmates by asking thoughtful, evidence-based questions to encourage further analysis and research. Each reply should be 300 words or more, and use at least 2 additional scholarly sources to support his/her points.
Article Review Assignments (4)
The student must read 4 articles and write a paper summarizing the main points and addressing the problem/topic of each article. Each Article Review must be 450–500 words and adhere to current APA formatting standards. In addition to the article citation, at least one additional source must be cited (not the textbook).
Quizzes (3)
Quiz: Health Planning and Governmental Health Organizations will include material from the Learn items of designated Modules and will be open-book/open-notes, objective, comprised of 20 multiple-choice and true/false randomized questions, and must be completed within 1 hour.
Quiz: Midterm will cover Learn material from the first half of the course. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, comprised of 40 true/false and multiple-choice questions, and 1 short-answer question. It must be completed within 2 hours.
Quiz: The Environment and Health will include content from the Learn material in the specified Modules. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, objective, comprised of 20 multiple-choice and true/false randomized questions, and must be completed within 1 hour.
