This course introduces the student to the emerging field of Fashion Psychology. The student will learn how fashion and human behavior are intertwined and how psychological principles can be utilized to predict and explain those behaviors.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Where applicable, threads must include at least 1 citation from the course textbooks in current APA format. A corresponding reference must be present at the end of threads that require a citation. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Dressing for an Interview Blog Assignment

The student will create a blog-style paper of at least 1,000 words about dressing successfully for an interview. The paper must include 5 tips for the anticipated reader that are supported by scholarly sources and research. The student should express his/her creativity, capture the reader’s attention through highlighting, font variations, etc., and incorporate a minimum of 3 pictures. A minimum of 4 references must be cited, and at least 2 references must be from the current and/or previous module’s Learn items. A reference page in current APA format must be included. Media’s Influence Assignment

The student will keep a log of 12 fashion images that he/she pays attention to during the assigned module. In the log, the student will answer 3 question prompts related to body image or body positivity for each fashion image. The student will submit his/her log along with a reflection paragraph explaining what he/she learned from the assignment. The reflection paragraph must be at least 200 words. (CLO: B, C, D, E)

Fashion and Mental Health Assignment

The student will create a fashion product that improves the mental health of fashion consumers and/or fashion industry employees. Once developed, the student will submit his/her product, then submit a 300-word reflection paragraph on how the product can be used to improve mental health for the consumer, fashion worker, or both. An annotated bibliography must be included with at least 3 sources in current APA format. (CLO: B, C, D, E)

Ethics in the Fashion Industry Essay Assignment

The student will create a paper answering a series of prompted questions aimed at reflecting ethics, sustainability, and temptations in the fashion industry and how this relates to the Christian life. The paper should be at least 1,250 words in current APA format, with title and reference pages (excluded from total word count). At least 5 citations should be included from 5 separate sources. Acceptable sources include the course materials and scholarly articles. (CLO: B, D, E, F)

Fashion Psychology Reflection Assignment

The student will create a paper reflecting on what he/she has learned in the course. The student will define what fashion psychology personally means and explain how this definition has changed from the start of the course. The student will explain how he/she intends to apply what has been learned in the course to the field, providing at least 2 specific and practical applications. The paper should be at least 500 words in current APA format and include at least 2 citations from 2 separate scholarly sources. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Each quiz will cover the material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 11 true/false, multiple-choice, multiple answers, matching, short answers, and essay questions, allow 1 attempt, and have a 1-hour time limit. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)
