Course Requirements Checklist

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the candidate is required to reply to two (2) other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150 words. Each initial thread must include at least two scholarly citations and one scriptural reference in current APA format. Replies are not required to have citations. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Reflection Exercise Assignments (4)

Using concepts and principles from the Learn material of each assigned module, the candidate will reflect on, report, and assess their learning throughout the course. These reflection exercises support comprehension of new material and foster connections with candidates' prior knowledge, knowledge of learner differences, pedagogical content knowledge, and/or knowledge of subject matter to explain instructional practices. Reflections are 2 – 3 pages of well-organized prose integrating observations and questions about the course material with at least five current (i.e., published within the last five years) scholarly sources. This assignment will include a title and reference page (no abstract required) not included in the page count. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Case Study Assignments (2)

An in-depth analysis of two classroom scenarios provides the candidate opportunities to apply biblical and theoretical foundations of motivation and human cognition. Recommendations for instructional changes based on concepts and principles from the modules are required to complete these analyses. Each paragraph response should be at least 5-7 sentences. Each assignment must be 250-350 words in total. The assignment should include a title page and a references section with at least one citation per paragraph. Use current APA formatting throughout the assignment. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Metacognition and Self-Regulated Learning Interview Assignment

The candidate will conduct an interview with an individual to determine what the individual understands about his/her metacognitive and self-regulated learning processes. The candidate will make conclusions about the participant’s metacognitive development, including biblical references to support psychological development. Each section of the assignment should have 1-2 paragraphs of at least 5-7 sentences and 250-350 words for each paragraph. There should be a title page, abstract, and references section. A minimum of three sources are required. Use current APA formatting throughout the paper. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Attribution and Interview Analyses Assignment

The candidate will complete an attribution analysis activity and read two excerpts from interview transcripts and consider what is revealed about each student's motivation, affect, emotions, or any combination of the three variables. The candidate will evaluate how qualitative research methods help or hinder the documentation or measurement of students’ motivation and engagement during data collection activities.

For Part I, the student must complete the Attribution Analysis Worksheet provided.

For Part II, the student must first review the two interview transcripts and complete a written response. There should be 4-16 paragraphs total of at least 5-7 sentences and 250-350 words for each paragraph. Include citations for at least three sources. Include a title page and a reference section. Use current APA formatting throughout the paper.
