EDUC 750 Survey of Educational Research

This course introduces candidates to a range of methods used in educational research. This survey of educational research methods addresses the difference between qualitative and quantitative research and basic versus applied research methods.

The objective of this course is to prepare the doctoral candidate with a basic understanding of the nature of educational research and the range of research designs employed in social science research.

Discussions (2)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to create 1 thread in response to the provided prompt, one for each discussion. Each thread must be 400–600 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge supported with peer-reviewed sources and biblical integration. In addition to the thread, the candidate is required to reply to the threads of at least 2 classmates supporting reply with peer-reviewed sources and biblical integration. Each reply must be 200–300 words. (CLO: E, F)

Research Design Project (6)

The candidate will complete parts of the Research Design Project (RDP) throughout the term. There are 6 components in the project. There are 3 pre-matrix tables where candidates will identify research articles for the different research methods. The information from the 3 tables will be used to develop 3 matrices. Each matrix will have a formal narrative explanatory section (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F).

Quizzes (3)

The candidate will complete 3 quizzes during the course. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned modules. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes and contain multiple-choice and/or true/false questions. (CLO: A, B, C, D)
