Course Description

This course will examine the roles of leadership in community, leadership in administration and leadership in the schools from a Christian worldview. This course will provide educators with both the theoretical and the practical considerations for planning and implementing technology, particularly computer applications, in schools. Basic concepts of technology and planning that use systems theory are presented. Emphasis is placed on the importance of the total application of technology as opposed to any individual component, be it hardware, software, facilities, personnel, or finances. This course will form a foundation from which educators will provide leadership and become agents for realizing the powerful potential of technology in their schools.

Rationale

The technology leader will experience variance from community to boardrooms to principal meetings. This course will focus on theoretical and practical implication for leaders who work in the world of technology.

Discussions (4)

Discussion are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate will post one thread of at least 200 words. The candidate must then post 2 replies of at least 100 words. For each thread, the candidate must support his/her assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last 5 years. Acceptable sources include the textbooks, the Bible, researched-based articles, etc. (CLO: A, D)

Professional Organization Review Assignment

The candidate will write a 300-word comparison of two specified organizations. (CLO: C)

Learning from the Past Assignment

The candidate will conduct research to find an article discussing change in the technology application/capabilities of a school. The candidate must use current APA format in citations. The assignment must be a minimum of 2 double-spaced pages. (CLO: C)

Podcast Assignment

The candidate will review the possibility of utilizing podcasts at either a local public school or university. The candidate must use current APA format in citations. The assignment must be a minimum of 2 double-spaced pages (not including the references page). (CLO: B)

Communication Plan Assignment

The candidate will create a communication plan to announce the adoption of podcast into a local public school or place of employment. The candidate will identify and expand on the best practices in podcast and make all the necessary decisions. This assignment has no minimum page count, but it should be comprehensive enough to fulfill all assignment requirements.  The candidate must use current APA format in citations. (CLO: A, B)

Podcast Review Assignment

The candidate will evaluate 3 podcasts based off of the discovered best practices. There is no minimum page count for this assignment, but it should have enough to fully complete each step. The candidate must use current APA format in citations. (CLO: C)

Social Media for Growth Assignment

The candidate will create a presentation on the current trends found on social media within the candidate's field of interest. Additionally, the candidate will see how podcasts are currently being used effectively and adjust his/her understanding of their best practices in use. There is no minimum page count for this assignment, but it should have enough to fully complete each step. The candidate must use current APA format in citations. (CLO: C)

Transform Learning Environment Assignment

The candidate will host his/her own podcast session. The candidate will demonstrate the best practices he/she described and showcase a component that is needed in the educational classroom. The podcast must be 3-5 minutes long and of professional quality. (CLO: A, B, D)

Future of Education Assignment

The candidate will focus on the four common characteristics of a leader (the four C's of Leadership). The candidate will reflect on how they apply to him/her and how they will impact both the candidate as well as those working for him/her. There is no minimum page count for this assignment, but it should have enough to fully complete each step. The candidate must use current APA format in citations. (CLO: A, B)

Future Presentation Assignment

In a 3-5 minute video, the candidate will describe to the main stakeholder why he/she should agree to the candidate's technology plan. (CLO: D)
