EDGT 580 School of Education Gate 3 – MAT Initial Licensure

This course is intended to provide guidance and information regarding the application requirements for Student Teaching (Gate 3). Candidates will submit Gate 3 Application requirements in this course.

For information regarding prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.

This course should be taken the semester prior to Student Teaching (excluding the Summer semester).

This quiz will determine when the candidate intends to complete Student Teaching

Quiz: Student Information

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has completed the Student Information step of the Gate 3 Application.

Quiz: Student Teaching Agreement

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has completed the Student Teaching Agreement step of the Gate 3 Application.

Quiz: Work Experience

This quiz will determine if the candidate is approved to complete student teaching in his/her own classroom and will require documentation from the school system in which the candidate is employed.

Quiz: DCPA

This quiz will confirm that the candidate’s Degree Completion Plan Audit shows proof of at least a 3.0 GPA, Gate 2 clearance, and that the candidate is registered for all remaining courses, aside from Student Teaching and EDUC 571.

Quiz: VCLA

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted an official passing score report for the VCLA exam in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Praxis Subject Assessment

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted an official passing score report for the applicable Praxis Subject Assessment in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: RVE

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted an official passing score report for the RVE exam in the Gate 3 Application portal, if required by the candidate’s program.

Quiz: Background Check

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Criminal clearance report, FBI Fingerprinting report, and Child Abuse Registry Check clearance report in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Dyslexia Training

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Dyslexia Training certificate in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Student Teaching Placement Request

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Student Teaching Placement Request Form in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Civics Training

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Civics Training certificate in the Gate 3 Application portal, if required by the candidate’s program.

Quiz: Content Competency Evaluation

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Content Competency Evaluation in the Gate 3 Application portal, if required by the candidate’s program. This evaluation must show proof that the candidate has completed or is registered to complete all Content Competency requirements prior to Student Teaching.

Quiz: TB Test

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her negative TB Test/Screening in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Professional Liability Insurance

This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her professional liability insurance coverage in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Child Abuse and Neglect Training

All individuals seeking initial licensure are required to complete a child abuse recognition and intervention course that meets Board of Education approved guidelines. This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her Child Abuse and Neglect Training certificate in the Gate 3 Application portal, if required by the candidate’s program. 

Quiz: Restraint and Seclusion Training

All individuals seeking initial licensure are required to complete training on the regulations governing the use of restraint and seclusion in elementary and secondary schools in Virginia. This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her restraint and seclusion training certificate in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Quiz: Emergency First Aid, CPR & AED Training

Every person seeking initial licensure shall provide evidence of the completion of certification or training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators. This quiz will confirm that the candidate has submitted a copy of his/her emergency first aid, CPR & AED training certificate in the Gate 3 Application portal.

Additional Paperwork Upload (only if notified by Field Placement Office)

Upload additional documentation/paperwork required by the candidate’s school site(s). This step is only required if he/she was notified by FieldPlacementOffice@liberty.edu with the request for additional documentation/paperwork.
