Course Description

A planned program of practice in an educational setting under the direct supervision of University faculty and/or appropriate school administrator. A minimum of 60 clock hours is required.

Rationale

The candidate is required to engage in developmental and sequential field experiences throughout the program. The candidate will complete practicum experiences that correspond to benchmark assignments in other School Administration (EDAS) courses identified in the candidate’s degree completion plan. Practicum activities must align with the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) standards.

Field Experience: Planning Your Field Experience Assignment

The candidate will use the provided Field Experience: Planning Your Field Experience Template to document the projected 60-hour practicum placement schedule. (CLO: H)

Field Experience: Self-Monitoring Assignments (3)

The candidate will complete assignments to track progress in the practicum by entering his or her practicum hours in the Field Experience Module (FEM) in LiveText. The candidate must provide the date and length of each visit, whether the hours constituted direct or indirect practicum hours, and a brief one-sentence description of what he or she did during each visit. Then, the candidate must upload a screenshot of the LiveText Time Log onto Canvas to report the hours completed so far. (CLO: H)

Field Experience: Pre-SCRIP Dispositions Self-Assessment Assignment

Using the Field Experience: Pre-SCRIP Dispositions Self-Assessment Assignment Template found in LiveText, the candidate will reflect on the SOE Pre-SCRIP dispositions and rate his/her performance on the Pre-SCRIP dispositions during the practicum. The candidate will write a justification (3–5 sentences) with specific examples (minimum of 3) to support the self-rating given for each disposition. The candidate will then create a PDF of the self-assessment on LiveText and submit the PDF to the assignment on Canvas. (CLO: C, G)

After reviewing the information related to the field experience summary, the candidate will complete this field experience summary quiz.  The quiz contains 5 multiple-choice, true/false, and short answer questions, has a time limit of 1 hour, and allows unlimited attempts. (CLO:  A, F)  

Field Experience: Pre-AIA Self-Reflection Assignment

The candidate will use the Pre-AIA self-assessment assignment in the LiveText Field Experience Module (FEM) to reflect upon the overall practicum experience, including the lesson presentation. The candidate will plan and teach one formal lesson during the practicum. For the self-assessment, the candidate will provide at least two detailed and thoughtful sentences for supporting the rating decided upon for each rubric criterion provided within the assessment. Once complete, the candidate will download a PDF of the completed document from LiveText and submit it to the assignment on Canvas. (CLO: B, C)

Field Experience: Pre-AIA Mentor Evaluation Assignment

The mentor will evaluate the candidate’s performance during the practicum using the Pre-AIA Field Experience Assessment through the LiveText/Watermark Field Experience Module (FEM). After the mentor has completed the assessment, the candidate will upload PDF version of the assessment on LiveText to the assignment on Canvas. (CLO: A, C, D, E)

Field Experience: Field Experience Report Assignment

The candidate will log all completed practicum hours in the Field Experience Module (FEM) in LiveText. The candidate’s mentor will verify and approve the hours logged in LiveText. The candidate must provide the date and length of each visit, whether the hours constituted direct or indirect practicum hours, and a brief one-sentence description of what he or she did during each visit.  Once the hours are approved by the mentor, the candidate will submit a PDF version of the LiveText field experience page onto the assignment on Canvas for grading. Field Experience: Field Experience Conclusion Assignment

The candidate will write a thank-you note to the Mentor showing gratitude for the privilege of completing the practicum in his/her school or office. The candidate will then take a picture of the note and submit it to as a JPG, JPEG, PDF, or Word document/file to the link provided in Canvas for grading. (CLO: C, E)
