Course Description

Understanding content creation, which is a strategic communication approach emphasizing the use of content to mediate messages and drive profitable affiliate interaction.

Rationale

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the practices used by organizations in creating traditional and digital content communication. In doing so, the student will gain an understanding of the strategic communication objectives and message mediation that is beneficial to all parties in a digital/Internet based environment.

Course Assignment

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview. 

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread to be written in current APA format in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. The thread must be approximately 800 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 3 citations in current APA format. In addition, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be approximately 400 words and have at least 2 unique citations per reply.

The student will write a 5–7-page document proposing the topic, treatment, and outline of the Content Communication: Research Paper Assignment and the Content Communication: Applied Project Assignment.   

The student will conduct a search for literature applicable to the Content Communication: Research Paper Assignment. In preparation for writing this paper, the student will compose an annotated bibliography of at least 12 sources that will be cited in the research paper.   

Based on the Content Communication: Proposal Outline Assignment and Content Communication: Annotated Bibliography Assignment, the student will write a 12–14 page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on a topic related to content communication. The paper must include at least 12 references in addition to the applicable course textbooks.  

Based on the Content Communication: Proposal Outline Assignment and Content Communication: Research Paper Assignment, the student will create a Content Communication: Applied Project Assignment within a selected platform (content type/media and channel). This project will include any written content or supporting documentation not included in the research paper.

Each quiz will cover the Textbook material for the assigned module: week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes and contain 15 multiple-choice and/or true/false questions.
