DBFA 305 Relationships, Public Policy and Advocacy Strategies

This course examines contemporary issues that threaten the faith-based heritage of America’s founding principles. Necessary critical thinking skills and advocacy strategies are discussed on behalf of marriages and families in the present day culture. Ethical concerns and multicultural factors are also considered.

Discussions (4)

The student will participate in 4 Discussions, each spanning across two Modules: Weeks. First, the student will answer the question(s) in a new thread with a minimum of 250 words by the end of the first Module: Week. Then, the student must reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads (with a minimum of 150 words each) by the end of the second Module: Week. (CLO’s: A, B, C, D, E)

Essay Assignments (3)

This essay assignment will be completed in three phases with the Essay: Title Page and Outline, the Essay: References Page Assignment, and the Essay: Marriage Assignment. The student will write a 3–5 page APA-formatted essay comparing traditional and modern views of marriage through a biblical worldview, incorporating scripture, scholarly sources, and personal reflection. Essay: Title Page and Outline Assignment

The student will create an APA-formatted title page and a two-level content outline with references for the essay.

Essay: References Page Assignment

The student will compile a list of at least 2 outside (this number will not include the required texts or Bible), current (within the last 10 years) references in current APA format.

Essay: Marriage Assignment

The student will write a 3–5 page APA-formatted essay comparing traditional and modern views of marriage through a biblical worldview, incorporating scripture, scholarly sources, and personal reflection. Quizzes (4)

The student will complete 4 quizzes. The quizzes are open-note/open-book. Each quiz will contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions. The student will have 45 minutes to complete each quiz. (CLO’s: A, B, C, D)
