CSIS 410 Web Enterprise Technologies

Provides students with thorough knowledge of current technologies and best practices for developing database driven dynamic websites including database and client side programming. (Formerly BMIS 410)

This course applies the knowledge and skills gained in the prerequisite courses in real-world assignments and projects designed to reinforce and expand the knowledge and skills of the student through more advanced web-based technologies.

After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview. 

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will respond to prompts for 4 discussions throughout the course. The student must completely respond to the prompts and post a thread that has a minimum of 3 paragraphs and 250 words. The student must also submit replies to at least 2 classmates’ threads that are at least 150 words each. The student must use support from scholarly sources, complete paragraphs, use proper APA formatting, and correctly cite information that is not his/her own.

The student will work on a website consisting of 6 individual assignments. Each assignment should be made available on the main menu using the domain name that the student purchased for this course. The domain must be accessible on the Internet via the purchased hosting provider. Assignments should have a visible timestamp of submission and the last edit timestamp on the website footer.

The project in this course involves the design, development, and implementation of a content management system (CMS). The CMS will be developed to meet the business requirements of a proposed e-commerce company. 

CMS Project: Sessions Assignment will develop the company’s website with products, security, and sessions with a minimum of 15 web pages.

CMS Project: Database Assignment will implement the CMS that manages the website content via a database with a minimum of 15 web pages. 

The Quiz: Final Exam is open-book/open-notes and is comprehensive. The student should apply the learned knowledge from the course to correctly answer 50 multiple-choice questions. The Quiz: Final Exam measures knowledge learned from the assigned textbook readings.
