Organizations face new scenarios every day and ethical decision-making is as relevant as ever. This course will present students with opportunities to consider the ethical boundaries on issues present in the marketplace today.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete one Discussion: Introduction Video in this course. During the first week, the student will record a short video introducing himself/herself to the class. The student should post this in the initial thread. The length of the video should be 2-4 minutes. Then, the student will post a written response of 200 words to 2 other classmates’ video introductions.
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete four standard discussions within this course. The content of this course is extensive and will require the student to look at a variety of concepts in a variety of ways. The student will have to think analytically, articulate carefully, and work quickly. The student will prepare a thread of at least 400 words, and then respond to at least 2 of their peers in at least 250 words each. For each thread, the student must include at least three scholarly citations including at least one of the texts, and one biblical reference in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least two scholarly citations and one biblical reference in current APA format.
This assignment invites the student to explore their own personal ethical framework. By examining their core values and applying communication ethics principles from Tompkins’ text and other sources, the student will gain a deeper understanding of how they navigate ethical communication dilemmas in everyday life, both personally and professionally. The final document should be a minimum of 1000 words (3 – 4 pages). The cover page, abstract, and reference page are excluded from this count. Sources required are the two course texts, five additional scholarly sources, and the Bible.
This assignment asks the student to bridge the gap between theoretical communication ethics and practical organizational challenges. By drawing upon insights from Tompkins’ text, the student will craft an essay exploring how ethical communication principles can be applied to address a specific organizational issue. This assignment invites the student to analyze a recent crisis event through the lens of communication ethics. Utilizing Tompkins’ text, the student will craft an essay examining the ethical strengths and weaknesses of the communication strategies employed during the crisis. The final document should be a minimum of 1000 words (3 – 4 pages). The cover page, abstract, and reference page are excluded from this count. Sources required are the two course texts, five additional scholarly sources, and the Bible.
Each quiz will cover the Textbook material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 1 short-answer question, and will have no time limit. The student should support their responses using the texts and other outside sources.
